I've been hunting vintage Pyrex bowls at estate sales recently. They scream mid-century kitchen and look great even if you don't have a full set.

Space Age Travel Posters from NASA

Antoine Corbineau is an international artist, having lived in Strasbourg, London, New York and Paris.

Mike Mignola Bride of Frankenstein Mondo Poster

I bought my first Mondo poster, the Mike Mignola Bride of Frankenstein poster. I'm a huge movie nerd, especially monster movies, and I have done my best not to fill my house with movie posters, but this one was too perfect to pass up. The flat comic book-style art, the anatomy in the background, the flowers in the foreground, both monsters – if you have only one movie poster in your house, it should probably be this one.

Mid-Century Art: Arno Dufour

Arno Dufour is an illustrator and designer from Paris who recently came out with Splashes and Stripes.

I love this print, it reminds me of Roy Lichtenstein's Interiors work. Except, you know, exterior.

Mid-Century Art: Neal McCullough

Neal McCullough, also known as Hand Drawn Creative, has a new set of mid-century art prints called Asseyez-Vous. For those of you who didn't take two years of French in college (or just use Google Translate because you forgot it all), asseyez-vous means sit down.

Outside of this set, McCullough has some other mid-century style art prints that would fit in a modern home, like this red Westy print.

And this Fisher-Price inspired piece that would look great in any travel-themed kid's room.

Mid-Century Modern Art Toy: Matte Dark Sapele Wood Grain Qee

If I have learned anything with my many Vintage Views interviews, it's to buy it when you see it or you're going to regret it for a long while. It's a lesson in mid-century furniture hunting that perfectly translates into mid-century modern art toy buying.

So when a dark sapele matte wood grain qee came up on ebay today (a search that I've been following for years without a single hit), I bought it within minutes. 

As quick as I was, there were already two watchers on the item. Perhaps they'll learn to buy it when they see it in the future.

What We Bought at Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen

Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen was definitely worth the train trip out to the suburbs of Paris. We looked at a lot of beautiful furniture, but for obvious reasons couldn't take any home. What we did take home we a few pieces of advertising art.

We bought three sewing patterns with some amazing illustrations on them.

They were some of the most unique things we saw at the market. Only one vendor had them and we knew they would always remind of of our time in Paris.

We just assumed that they were cutouts of old packages or something, they were definitely priced like they were, but when we got home I translated the writing on the price tag and it says, "clothes patterns from 1970, original etchings."

And sure enough, once we got them out of their plastic sleeve, we noticed it's actual paint on paper. So we accidentally bought some original mid-century advertising art, and we couldn't be happier about it.

Mid-Century Art: Eric Tan Muppets

I've mentioned Eric Tan before for his near perfect mid-century modern travel posters. Now his travel art is even closer to perfect because it includes Muppets. 

Eric Tan has done a set of postcard art for the new Muppets movie. Each card has a musical instrument in it (sometimes hidden) and a distinct location because Muppets Most Wanted is a musical journey around the globe. That makes these worldly postcards perfect miniature travel art for any travel-themed nursery.

Mid-Century Modern Voting Poster

Today was election day in Texas. I got my "I Voted" sticker. I also happened upon this poster by Cory Loven today. It reminds me of a Keep Britain Tidy poster mixed with Schoolhouse Rock! So I love it.

Mid-Century Art: Gary Taxali

I always thought that the work of Gary Taxali had the feeling of old signs and books, and according to this interview, there's good reason for that.

Taxali's art has the perfect look for a mid-century home. It looks aged, it has a mid-century illustration / cartoon look and the colors are perfect for the mid-century era.

Not only does Taxali's work look like a book, he has a book This Is Silly! As the title promises, it's fun and silly and something any kid would love.

Taxali also traffics in mid-century style wood toys. They have the same look as his art and the packaging is amazing. They're like little are boxes.

And, let's be honest, who doesn't want a monkey yo-yo?
