Vintage Broyhill Premier Furniture Brochure

This wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I'm happy I ran across this vintage Broyhill Premier furniture brochure. It includes fabric swatches for Broyhill furniture as well as images of the Broyhill Forward, Accent and Invitation lines.

The overall theme of this Broyhill brochure seems to be quality furniture for the cost conscious, with the outstanding tagline of, "Live high on a low budget."

  1. Great brochure! I especially liked seeing the fabric available on the original pieces.

    1. That's my favorite page too. You don't get to see original fabric swatches for an entire line all that often.

  2. What year is that brochure from?

  3. Do you happen to know what year this brochure is from? We just got a few of these pieces and have not been able to find any information on them with the exception of this post. Thanks!

    1. I don't know the exact year, but with the inclusion of the Forward, Accent and Invitation lines, it's probably sometime in the late '50s. There's more info on most Broyhill lines elsewhere on Mad for Mid-Century, but if you let me know the specific line, I might be able to track more info down.

  4. My parents purchased many pieces of the Invitation line when they married in Pittsburgh in early 1958. They had the dining table (which had two leaves that expanded it to an oblong table for six), eight chairs, the long "entertainment center" piece, a china hutch (the one with glass doors, not the one pictured in this ad), and some bedroom furniture. If I remember correctly, the bedroom furniture consisted of a headboard for a king bed, two bedside tables, a long dresser with mirror and a tall dresser that my mom and dad used for decades. I still have the small china hutch. The rest of the pieces were sold many years ago (the late 80s). Sadly, when my mother died and my step-father got ill, the dining table was sold at an estate sale, along with the surviving end table and one chair. The end table and chair were painted by my mom in the late 70s when brightly colored accent furniture was all the rage. Needless to say, I have a special place in my heart for this furniture.
